Welcome to the 2010 Asia Boarding Schools Fairs

Now in its fifteenth year, the Asia Fairs bring together families and representatives from boarding schools across the United States, Canada, and abroad. There are numerous advantages to attending an Asia Fair, including:

  • Exclusive access to boarding school representatives from the United States and Canada
  • One-to-one informational sessions with school representatives
  • Information and advice about the application process and advantages of boarding schools
  • Opportunities to interact with peer families for informal information exchange.
  • Take-home copies of view books and admission form packets from participating schools

Participants in the program will receive comprehensive packets of information and resources including electronic fair invitations (PDF format), suggested in-country contacts, country information, and detailed packing and planning lists.

Registration is now open for the 2010 Asia Fairs. Use our convenient online registration form and pay by credit card or check. Or, you may use our downloadable registration form.

Please refer to the schedule for fair dates, locations, and times. To view the participating schools, please use the city links on the left. Schools will be regularly added to the city web pages, so please check back for updates.

Flight Reservations

The flight itinerary is currently available for download. This itinerary is used by TABS and is recommended for those new to the fairs and wishing to travel with others in the group.  It is not required that you use this itinerary.

TABS used Tim Morrison with Just Vacations to create the Asia flight itinerary.  He maintains the itinerary and will be happy to make flight arrangements for you, if you so choose.  You may also use your own agent, if you'd prefer.  However, we do ask that you book your hotel rooms directly through the hotel's websites (or by phone) using the codes provided above, as travel agents will not receive commissions from pre-arranged hotel room blocks and will reserve your rooms outside of the block and at generally higher rates.

Airport/Hotel Transportation
You must make transportation arrangements between the airports and hotels. Generally we do recommend requesting hotel cars when making reservations.  The hotel will know if you're a part of the room block and may arrange for shared transport with others from our group unless you specifically request a private car.  Shared transport fees will be divided amongst the passengers when registering at the hotel.

Shanghai / Beijing - Hotel Cars

Tokyo - Bus transport: Airport Limousine (This is the easiest and least expensive way to travel. The limousine bus picks up just outside the terminal and will drop you off at the front of the hotel. Tickets can be purchased in the airport's main terminal.)

Taipei - Hotel Car

Hong Kong - Train and/or Taxi. If arranging a hotel car, you might want to save money by inviting another from the group to join you, and the hotel will split the cost for you at the registration desk.

Bangkok - Hotel Car

Hanoi / Ho Chi Minh City - Hotel Car

Mumbai - Hotel Car (Highly Recommended!)

Visa Forms and Guides

Visas will be required for entry into China (excluding Hong Kong), Vietnam and India. For China, we do recommend a business visa, though many participants in the past have used tourist visas with no problem. Tourist visas will be fine for both Vietnam and India.

We have had great success working with the Washington Passport and Visa Services for processing our visas. They're prompt, professional and offer competitive pricing. I have included their instructions and order forms for your use, but please feel free to use any processing service you so choose.

The Indian Embassy uses an online service for pre-proccessing visa applications.  After completing the online form, you will be able to print out the application form already filled with your information. You can access the form at the Washington Passport and Visa Service.
Once on their site, select India from their country field, then click the application form link in the Tourist Visa section. (It is not necessary to apply for a business visa.)
