JUST FOR STUDENTS!

The Global Symposium is one event international students will not want to miss! Students will have the opportunity to network with other international students from campuses across North America while attending "hot topic" sessions such as:

  • Everything boarding: Academics to residential life
  • The university admission process
  • University ethics: What you should know; what universities expect
  • International student communities at university
  • Exploring cultural differences
  • Conflict resolution between culturals

But this isn't all about the classroom. At the Symposium, students will delve into the Heart of Washington with inside tours of key government buildings, monuments, and an afternoon at the world's most interactive museum. And what better way to explore it all then with new friends from around the world and the best tour guides in Washington!

LIBRARY OF CONGRESS

The Library of Congress, one of the most beautiful structures in Washington, is the nation's oldest federal cultural institution and serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world, encompassing three buildings and containing millions of books, recordings, photographs, films, maps and manuscripts. It even boasts a collection of 6,000 comic book titles, and two of the world's 700 extant Stradivari instruments.

You will be able to explore the library during our trip to this must-see site, and look in awe at its breathtaking Great Hall interior; historic mosaics and wall murals; and architectural details that are as impressive as the library's collection itself.

US CAPITOL TOUR

The Capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met here for more than two centuries. Begun in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument  to the American people and their government.

The TABS group, as special guests of US Congressman Heath Shuler (NC), will be treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the Capitol, including views of both the House of Representatives and Senate Chambers.

EXPERIENCE THE NEWSEUM

Billed as the "world's most interactive museum" the Newseum promotes "free press, free speech and free spirit for all people." View exhibits like; Photo Finish: The Sports Photography of Neil Leifer, Blood and Ink: Front Pages From the Civil War, The President's Photographer: Fifty Years Inside the Oval Office and the Pulitzer Prize Photographs Gallery.

With 14 galleries, 15 theaters and dozens of displays featuring world events, the Newseum has become a favorite among students and tourists alike.
