At Wasatch Academy, learning is an experience. Our specialized style of project-based learning is creative but intensive and focuses on helping every student reach their highest potential in any given field. Wasatch Academy students study topics in depth, exploring the intersection of ideas and disciplines. Along the way, students master core academic content and make valuable observations about how they learn. Students complete course requirements with a deep content understanding and personal ownership of their learning. They also gain respect for the environment and attain a powerful awareness of how communities are interconnected.

At Wasatch Academy, you are given many opportunities to fill your resume with leadership positions, athletic participation, music involvement, art experience, community service, and much more. You learn personal and global responsibility through engaging classroom discussions, college counseling support, and real-life experiences of helping others inside and outside the school community.

Learning Services
The Learning Services program at Wasatch Academy emphasizes respect and dignity with a goal to build a positive community of learners who are recognized and appreciated for their unique learning abilities and styles. Students that participate in the various program offerings develop as strong independent learners by the time they go to college or a university.

Campus Life
Wasatch Academy welcomes students from 35 different countries and 30+ states. In our small and nurturing school community, we get to know you and everybody fits in. Students make life-long friends with their peers from all over the world.

Every student has an advisor that provides academic, social, and personal support. As you grow intellectually and socially, you come to understand yourself, your abilities, and envision the places you will go.

Full-time dorm parents regularly teach about making safe, wise decisions, staying healthy, and building good character.

Outdoor Adventure
Wasatch Academy location in central Utah gives us a gateway to outdoor adventuring. Hiking, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, camping...and so much more! With five national parks and the greatest snow on earth, Utah is a prime location for students looking to do more than just sit in a classroom.

Athletics
When it comes to athletics, we are all in! We teach how to be a team player, how to cooperate, and how to develop a healthy approach to competition.

Student Life

Summary: In the residential community, much more than academics are on our mind. We learn how to care for ourselves and others, we learn the value of becoming a solid member of a community, and we experience how little things make a difference. Residents form a community within a community, strengthened by shared activities, meals, and discussions. We encourage our students to engage in thoughtful conversations, reflection, and positive action.

Summary: The Wasatch Academy Arts program encompasses everything from visual art practices to music theory and recording. Students can explore their creative passions within the Studio Arts building, state of the art recording studio, or renowned music conservatory.

From the facilities, to the teachers, Wasatch Academy is among the top performing arts boarding schools where you’ll have access to great resources to help you grow. Whether you are a beginner or very experienced in the arts, you will get great instruction at Wasatch Academy.

When it comes to athletics, we are all in! Being on a team teaches students much more than the basic fundamentals of how to kick a ball, swing a racket or sink a basketball. While skill development and being physically fit are emphasized, much more is learned: how to be a team player, how to cooperate, and how to develop a healthy approach to
competition.

Many of Wasatch Academy’s sports teams are top ranked within their leagues. It’s why we believe our athletic program is among the best in the US.

Whether students play a sport that is already a favorite or try something new, Wasatch Academy coaches help develop skills and lay the foundations for lifelong fitness. In the process, you gain confidence, form friendships, and have fun!

Summary: In addition to an excellent learning experience, Wasatch Academy has experienced college counselors and faculty who will prepare students for college. The college counselors take a student-centric and strategic approach to understanding a student’s passions, motivations, and long-term goals.

Boasting a 100% college acceptance rate, we assist students with the rigors of the college application process so that they can enroll in the college or university of their choice.

Wasatch Academy graduates take many paths. Our students are accepted into top universities in the United States and around the world. The college counselors work closely to get to know students and guide them through the college admissions process.

Our goal for students is fundamental and more permanent than preparation for a specific group of colleges or for standardized tests. A Wasatch Academy education is for life.

Department Director: Jonelle Larsen

Notable Alumni

Ann Kirkpatrick In 1980, she became Coconino County's first female Deputy County Attorney, and she later served the people of Sedona as City Attorney. In November 2004, Ann’s neighbors elected her to the Arizona Legislature to represent Flagstaff and the Havasupai, Hopi, Hualapai, Navajo, and San Juan Southern Paiute Nations. At the state Capitol, Ann championed education and fiscal responsibility. In November 2008, Ann was elected to Congress to represent a sprawling, rural district which includes 12 Native American tribes, including the tribal land where Ann grew up. Ann’s results stood out in Congress, with more of her bills and amendments signed into law than almost any other freshman representative. Ann’s hard work created jobs, helped small businesses, hired more border patrol agents, and protected veterans and seniors on tribal land and in rural Arizona. In 2012, Ann is running again to represent Congressional District 1.

Sonita Alizadeh (Class of 2018) Sonita Alizadeh is an Afghan rapper and activist who has been vocal against forced marriages. Alizadeh first gained attention when she released "Brides for Sale," a video in which she raps about daughters being sold into marriage by their families.

Summary: The Wasatch Academy summer school program is for students seeking a truly personalized learning approach coupled with a whole lot of fun. Summer school empowers students to develop academically, socially, and physically. Students benefit from a combination of program offerings, outdoor activities, and the tight-knit community of Wasatch Academy.

Students can also earn up to three full semester credits by completing the six-week program.

When studies are done, its time to have some fun! Utah is the ideal location to spend the summer months away from home. Whether you are climbing on the indoor wall, playing soccer in the quad, attending a local rodeo, or biking one of five Utah national parks; there is always an adventure waiting for you during Wasatch Academy’s summer school program.

Students finish a fulfilling summer confident in their abilities, their creativity, and their individuality.
