The Boarding School Adventure?
Are you determined to get a great education?
Do you desire days filled with activities?
Are you a self-starter? In other words, are you willing to take responsibility for waking yourself up in the morning, for doing your homework and chores without being nagged, and for balancing your social life with schoolwork?
Are you up to the challenge of more rigorous classes?
Are you eager to make friends from different backgrounds and cultures?
Do you manage your time well, or are you ready to learn to manage it better?
Will you learn best in small, friendly classrooms?
Are you ready to stretch yourself academically, socially and physically?
Boarding school was made for you. You said you have many of the desires and characteristics of students who thrive at boarding school. So let's get this adventure started! Go to the Find a School section to explore hundreds of boarding school options and discover one that's perfect for you.
Boarding school will likely be a great experience for you. You might have a few challenges with the increased structure and responsibility that comes with boarding school, but many boarding school students make these adjustments beautifully. Take a closer look to see how you can prepare and discover which boarding schools might be a fit for you.
Your responses indicate that you might not have the interests or skills to make boarding school a smooth transition... at least not yet. So it's best to start by examining things further:
Why are you considering boarding school?
What do you hope to gain from the boarding school experience?
Dorm life is fun. Someone is always nearby to hang out, consult on homework, or watch a movie. Like at college, you'll have a roommate, a shared bathroom, and a common area (think: den). You'll do your own laundry—and will be a pro before college! Your hall mates will become fast friends, and your dorm “parents” are there to support you every step of the way. By the end of the year, you won't be able to imagine life without this home away from home.
Food at boarding school is more than fuel. Meals in the dining hall become social events as you sit beside your friends and faculty members. You'll enjoy a variety of tasty, healthy choices, which means the menu never gets old. If you need a bite between meals, snack stations offer options to go.
The boarding school life is about more than class. You'll have chances to go off campus to build character through service projects or have a ball with recreational activities. Many boarding schools are in picturesque spots that you'll be eager to explore. And the fact that your friends are always around means that spontaneous fun breaks out all the time.
At boarding school you'll learn more than you ever imagined, thanks to small classes that provide one-on-one attention from teachers and a environment where you're surrounded by motivated peers 24/7. It will take plenty of hard work, but before you know it, you'll rise to the challenge and thrive academically.
Boarding school is a fine place for fine arts. You can experience music, visual arts, fine arts, dance, creative writing, theater and more. Boarding schools have amazing classrooms and equipment and teachers who love to encourage young artists. Explore all the options and discover what kinds of art you will come to love.
Athletics are a big part of boarding school. You'll practice and play in top-level facilities, and your teammates and coaches will push you to become your best. Many boarding school students are elite athletes. But even if you aren't, you'll have plenty of room to play, plus tons of exercise choices so you can get and stay strong. You'll find the field that fits you best and let the games begin.
