Assistant Coach, Hockey
Contract 3 yrs. September to April

WHAT WE WANT – THE ROLE
• Implement and manage recommended and current programs under the direction of the Head Coach
• Support the creation and execution of the extended training program in the fall season, including both on and off ice sessions
• Support the hockey program during the competitive season, including both on and off ice sessions. This may include morning practices, weekend competitions and training sessions occurring Monday to Sunday
• Collaborate with the Admissions team on student athlete identification, recruitment and on-site visits with families
• Meet with visiting families and prospects on campus as required. Visits will often be coordinated such that the prospective student’s tour ends with a late afternoon meeting with the Coach, then skates with the team if a practice day
• Foster relationships with external hockey organizations such as other coaches and hockey program directors
• Ensure adherence to hockey safety standards for school-based physical activities as per the Ontario Physical Education Safety Guidelines
• Commit to part-time hours of 12 hours per week September to November and 30 hours per week November to April

WHAT YOU NEED
• Certification in National Coaching Certification Program and Hockey Canada Coaching
• Superior knowledge of the game of hockey
• Coaching experience in designing and implementing programs at an elite level
• Proven leadership ability within a competitive team setting
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage/communicate effectively with student-athletes, administrators and public
• Sound knowledge of Ontario Physical Education Safety Guidelines for hockey
