Summary: Through living and learning alongside other young artists who share a passion for the creative, Interlochen becomes a transformative experience for hundreds of students every year. Forming lifelong friendships and sharing artistic ideas help students gain confidence, take creative risks, and expand their artistic horizons. Outside of class, students flourish in a protective and supportive environment that nurtures self-growth and fosters community. Student-run clubs and organizations thrive here. Deep conversations over dinner in Stone Cafeteria, impromptu jam sessions, weekly "coffeehouse" performances, walks through the woods, guest artist performances and organized off-campus trips - these are some of the ways students can relax and enjoy the company of their friends and fellow artists.A 1,200-acre wooded campus set between two freshwater lakes, Interlochen is a safe and idyllic setting where students of every background, culture and lifestyle learn independence and self-reliance. Their individual growth is not only seen through their increased artistic abilities and academic success, but also in their emergence as a Citizen Artist, able to see the art in all things and present that vision to the world in whatever career path they chose to follow.
