Perkiomen School’s rigorous academic program is implemented through an innovative educational model combining the best of traditional education with practical skills to thrive in a global community. We inspire our students to risk becoming their best, while providing the support of dedicated faculty, unique experiences, and access to advanced technology, both in and out of the classroom. With the freedom to explore their personal identities and interests, Perkiomen students develop the character, intellect, and courage needed to make their individual goals a reality.
Perkiomen School is moving forward, leading and challenging our students to build competency and confidence. More than ever, today’s students need to be lifelong learners with strong core skills like adaptability, creativity, and the ability to recognize opportunities.
Perkiomen students are inspired to learn and practice these skills within the Entrepreneur and Medical Institutes. But results materialize only when theory meets application. Without the space to brainstorm, to build, to design, to boldly fail and try again – these skills are just theoretical. Our on-campus Innovation Center and off-site experience partners provide the spaces and places for student discovery. The institutes are an evolution of fulfilling our school mission – to inspire students to risk becoming their best – and a launch point to apply their knowledge to both solve problems and add value in today’s changing world.

Summary: Perkiomen students go on to achieve success at a range of excellent college and universities in the United States and many other countries. Each year, students submit applications to a wide variety of schools and programs and enroll in the institutions that best fit their academic needs and goals.Perkiomen offers its student the support of a dedicated college counseling program. The hallmark of this program is the truly exceptional degree of personal attention the college counselors are able to provide each student. Our college process begins with the virtue of our school’s motto: Solvitur Vivendo, which means “it is solved by living.” We believe that experience is the best teacher, and that the best preparation for success in college is to enable our students to grow and explore their talents and passions academically and extracurricularly. Being involved and purposeful in their approach to their high school career will stand out to the many colleges and universities that come to Perkiomen to recruit our talented students. Our philosophy extends to helping students find the “right fit” in terms of achieving their post-secondary goals. We offer personal, comprehensive counseling as our students navigate the ever-changing landscape of college admissions. However, we firmly believe that it is the student who must drive this process; which includes self-reflection, goal-setting, and time management. The culmination of this maturation process comes when the student decides what path they will follow after graduation.

Summary: The Perkiomen School English Language & American Culture Institute is a four-week summer program for international students who are non-native speakers of English. The program is designed to provide students from around the world with a comprehensive academic and cultural experience in preparation for studying at an American boarding school. Students build social language skills needed to navigate campus life as well academic language and communication skills needed to succeed in the classroom.Using an internet-based language placement test, students are placed by proficiency levels into groups for English language lessons which focus on developing students’ skills in all four language domains: listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. Students are introduced to the expectations of the American classroom, including academic honesty, class participation, expressing one’s opinion while respecting the opinions of others, individual goal setting, and self-reflection. Students also gain insight into the student-centered approach to learning and participate in activities to further their cross-cultural understanding. In addition to classroom instruction, students experience campus life and American culture through a variety of extracurricular activities as well as field trips to Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington, D.C. Evening activities provide additional fluency practice. Students can also sign up to work with a private conversation tutor for an additional fee.The instruction during the English Language & American Culture Institute is delivered entirely in English, providing students with an intensive, immersive experience while offering requisite support. Students are asked to sign a commitment statement saying they will only speak in English during all group activities. A certificate of attendance along with an individual report on language growth is given to each student at the conclusion of the program.
