Heir to the time-honored Benedictine tradition, Saint Bernard Preparatory School's mission as a Catholic, college preparatory, residential school is the cultivation of a love of learning and a life of virtue in young men and women within a community of faith and scholarship. Corpus, Mens, Spiritus (Body, Mind, Spirit).
Sponsored by the Benedictine monks of St. Bernard Abbey, St. Bernard Preparatory School is a Catholic coed boarding and day school for grades 7-12. It is nestled in the rolling hills of north central Alabama on the 900 acres of St. Bernard Abbey. The environment is beautiful, serene and secure, wonderfully suited to academic pursuit, personal growth and healthy life. This happens through rigorous academics, a wide variety of athletics, and a broad array of extracurricular activities.
St. Bernard is grounded in the 1,500 year tradition of Benedictine Monks, challenging each student to become a well-rounded and community-oriented individual delighting in what is true, good and beautiful. This development prepares our students to excel in the college environment and in all of life.
Graduating classes typically are offered over $3 million in scholarship offerings per 25 students.
The school is less than an hour's drive from two major airports, one in the city of Birmingham, another in Huntsville, home to NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and the Marshall Space Flight Center. Atlanta, Georgia is a 3 hour drive and Nashville, Tennessee about 2 hours.

Summary: Generally one third to one half of our students enjoy the full St. Bernard experience of boarding life. The dorms are places of true growth and maturity, when a teenager takes on the joys and struggles of freedom and responsibility, of self-determination and of respect for leaders. Life-long associations and memories begin in St. Bernard dormitories, and the community life that they present has a profoundly positive effect on any young man or woman. While many students are seven-day boarders, some elect to return home on the weekend or visit in the homes of fellow students. Those on campus for the weekends take advantage of some local or distant entertainment and some off-campus food. The dorms are under the direction of experienced adults who are assisted by student supervisors, each of whom is honored to be chosen for such a position of peer leadership. The school's House System organizes the student body, teachers, and staff members into 4 houses. This results in integration of the student body, student leadership skills, and personal connection with faculty and staff.

Summary: Heir to the time-honored Benedictine tradition, St Bernard Preparatory School's mission as a Catholic, college preparatory, residential school is the cultivation of a love of learning and a life of virtue in young men and women within a community of faith and scholarship.St. Bernard Preparatory School is committed to fully engaging students in learning for the whole person - mind, body, and spirit: CORPUS MENS SPIRITUS.St. Bernard pursues this mission through instruction in the classroom; participation in religious, social and athletic events; and involvement in mentoring and community service activities.St. Bernard guides and encourages students to be intellectually curious and objective thinkers; to be more adaptable and receptive to new situations and challenges; and to become independently thinking and socially responsible members of society. The Latin words Corpus, Mens, Spiritus (Body, Mind, Spirit) form the motto of St. Bernard. That motto briefly indicates the sane approach to education and life to which the school calls her students. This is that call: know what is true and do what is good. This is accomplished by educating and exercising the whole person, using the gifts of body, mind and spirit. This is the purpose of human life, the way to true happiness, and the guide to all that we do at St. Bernard Preparatory School.
