Balmoral Hall School
Overview
.jpg)
Located in the heart of Winnipeg, Balmoral Hall was founded in 1901 by a group of entrepreneurs to offer girls an education that pushed all limits and exceeded boundaries girls faced. An independent day and boarding school for girls aged 2 to Grade 12, BH welcomes students from around the world. With over 100 years of boarding experience, BH girls are offered daily opportunities to explore and pursue their interests and academic pursuits while they make lifelong friendships. A dedicated team works closely with students to ensure their safety and encourage participation in boarding activities planned throughout the week and on weekends. Boarding students are housed on campus in a modern facility with private dorm rooms for 80 girls in a loft-like setting. The Head of School promises the custodianship of each international student. Our acclaimed ESL program recorded an unprecedented success in 2021 with 56% of our grade 12 ESL students achieving level 7 or 8 on IELTS – ensuring direct entry to the university of their choice in North America and leading international universities. Balmoral Hall’s exciting and dynamic 18,000 square foot, 3-story Benidickson Centre for Arts and Design (CFAD) continues to break down barriers to learning. It provides an industry-leading facility that supports enriched and innovative experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). Balmoral Hall encourages students to discover their passions in academics, arts, and athletics through a curriculum spanning classical studies to 21st-century technology, fostering academic excellence.

Arts & Athletics
Summary: ATHLETICS - We believe students should be physically active on a regular basis in order to develop personal health and fitness. Student participation in active, hands-on and meaningful experiences is an essential part of the learning process. The BH Athletics program enhances mental energy and academic performance while promoting a philosophy of active healthy lifestyles. High-level hockey players have a chance to join our Prep Hockey Team, which plays in the Junior Women's Hockey League (JWHL). Other available sports include: soccer, basketball, badminton, and ultimate frisbee. There is sure to be something for all of our sports-inclined students, whether at the competitive or recreational level. Do you already have a passion for sport? Compete at an elite level? Our faculty works with student athletes to ensure that they can maintain both their studies, AND their sports with flexible class and homework scheduling. ARTS - Do you love to dance, sing or act? Do you love to create with your hands, a paintbrush or computer? Whether you want to be on the stage or behind the scenes; publicly praised or quietly applauded, we believe in helping you to develop your talent and perfect your skill. Even if you elect to pursue AP Sciences but love the Arts, you'll have the opportunity to experience it all. At BH we do not expect you to narrow your choices—we want you to expand your vision. That's why we offer courses in performance and visual arts. (NEW) In 2019, we will complete construction on the Centre for Arts & Design. This state-of-the-art facility will feature three floors dedicated to art, dance, 3D modelling and printing, laser-cutting, wood-working, a professional recording studio and much more - the only limit will be our students' imaginations!

Graduates
Summary: The University Guidance program aims to connect high school learning with post-secondary education, then through to discovering future career goals. This program will help to provide a smoother transition between high school graduation and appropriate post-secondary programming, based on “best fit” decisions made by students who are confident and well informed. They will acquire the skills to identify and use career and education planning resources. Students engage in discussion and self-reflection to determine their interests and aptitudes. Along with the university advisor, each student begins an intensive exploration of university program choices, the admissions requirements for their school of choice, and the variety of post-secondary choices that exist.
