Academics
Summary: Eaglebrook recognizes that boys in middle school learn in different ways, vary in their innate ability, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes are organized to meet the needs of each boy, and extra help is always available. Eaglebrook School has earned a reputation as an innovator in middle school curriculum. The school year is divided into three academic trimesters with seven classes that meet Monday through Friday in a rotating schedule of six periods. Boys are assigned to the appropriate English and mathematics classes. In world languages, history, and science, students have some choices. The Art Department, academic departments, Athletic Department, and individual teachers offer elective courses that meet each trimester. These chosen electives give boys an opportunity to design part of their own course of study. The years when boys are in the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth grades are years of tremendous growth. Not only is there physical growth, but in classes and sports, these middle school students grow in their ability to discover new knowledge and develop new skills. Boys who attend Eaglebrook School during their middle school years also learn responsibility and build their self-confidence as they must be on time for meals, assembly, classes, and dorm study. They must be prepared for classes and on the playing field for team practice with all of their equipment. As boys move through the grades, they begin to take on leadership roles and set examples of responsible action for the younger students. The school has outlined a set of Core Skills & Values that are as much a part of the overall Eaglebrook education as academics.

Arts & Athletics
Summary: Eaglebrook’s athletic program is designed to provide boys of all sizes, ages and abilities opportunity for physical and emotional growth. We strongly believe that our athletic program teaches valuable life lessons of commitment, cooperation, and sportsmanship. By experiencing the thrill of competition, the exhilaration of a personal physical triumph, or the camaraderie of a team pushing its boundaries, boys discover their true characters. Boys have the opportunity to choose competitive and non-competitive sports each season, and our teams are suitable for players of all sizes and abilities. Eaglebrook boys brighten the school with their imagination and creativity. Trained artists offer all Eaglebrook students a multimedia introduction to art. The Skills of Self-Expression and Creativity are some of the Core Skills we hope each boy develops while at Eaglebrook. Each trimester, students have an opportunity to choose from a wide variety of electives in the Visual and Performing Arts.

Graduates
Summary: We help each boy land at the right secondary school for him—whether he’s inclined to small schools, urban environments, challenging academics, or robust art and athletic programs. Our Placement Office works closely with families and students to identify a list of target schools and to set goals to gain enrollment. Our placement advisor builds strong relationships with students over several years to understand their aptitudes, interests, and achievements, helping to hone in on the best secondary school fit. We guide each boy through every stage of the secondary school admissions process, including writing essays, completing applications, and applying for financial aid. Students can easily find teachers, coaches, and advisors who can eloquently speak to their talents and traits in recommendation letters. And courses at Eaglebrook naturally elevate students’ writing and public speaking skills, giving them the tools they will need as they write compelling admissions essays and answer questions about themselves in secondary school interviews.
