Student Life
R-MA provides an emphasis on academics, leadership skills, cultivating a “service before self” mentality, and having fun! Sports, clubs, dorm life, and other programs meld together to promote friendly competition and teamwork in the spirit of growing personally and bettering the community overall. The concept of community service is so entrenched at R-MA that the student body serves thousands of hours each year, in spite of the fact that R-MA has no community service requirement for graduation! Opportunities are everywhere. In addition to on-campus sporting events, dodgeball competitions and guest speakers, students have the opportunity to go on weekend trips such as paintball, amusement parks, shopping malls, and skiing. Students who live close enough to go home on weekends are allowed to do so every weekend except during pre-announced "closed weekends," such as Homecoming Weekend.

Arts & Athletics
Summary: R-MA offers a variety of arts and athletic programs both within the academic day and as extracurricular activities. The wide berth of activities means students are encouraged to engage in multiple venues; at times you may find a volleyball player who has a key role in the fall play or a basketball player who also competes with the drill team. We believe that providing students with the opportunity to explore new areas and challenge themselves is how we can encourage them to rise above their perceived self-limitations. Band, chorus, and handbells are academic classes that perform often during evenings and on weekends. Classes for beginning percussion and beginning brass and woodwinds are available at the middle school level. Art classes are also available for all grade levels. Drama is offered as both a class and an intramural, with each production revealing a new rising star within the student body. Past productions have included Grease, Mulan, Once Upon This Island, and Godspell. Performances are so well-attended that the drama program had to move out of the "Little Theater" onto the stage housed in Melton Memorial Gymnasium in order to accommodate the crowds. Because R-MA is a small school with a wide variety of sports, participation on a sports team is highly encouraged, and it is not unusual for an athlete who is new to the sport to at least make the team's "practice squad." R-MA Middle School competes in the Valley Middle School Conference, while most of the Upper School teams compete in the Delaney Athletic Conference.
