Rectory School
Overview
+(1).jpg)
Rectory, located on 138 picturesque acres in northeastern CT, is devoted to the total development of each student in a nurturing environment that celebrates the individual and helps each student discover his and her passion for learning. Our flexible curriculum, caring faculty, small classes, and extensive offerings in the arts and athletics serve students across a broad range of abilities. The linchpin is our Learning Services Program. Integrated seamlessly into the academic day, students are matched with Learning Specialists who provide the support or enrichment that student needs to succeed in school and in life. Our performing and visual arts facilities, state-of-the-art weight room, and dormitories make the campus a vital, energetic place to be. Our signature program, March Experiential Learning Program (MELP) devotes a week in the spring to pursue education outside the classroom through creative, dynamic courses that include travel throughout the country. Our weekend activities add to the positive Rectory experience that keeps our students eager to learn. Since 1920 we have been making a difference in the lives of young people. We say it quite simply: Our students love it here!
Academics
Summary: Rectory School is a K-9 private school located on 138 acres in Pomfret, Connecticut. Considered a “Junior Boarding School,” Rectory offers 5-day and 7-day boarding programs for students in grades 5-9. At Rectory, understanding your child is our priority. Not all students learn the same, which is why we surround your child with adults who believe all students can succeed when they are given the tools that fit their particular learning style. In all facets of school life, students are encouraged to reach beyond their comfort level, and while this sometimes means they may stumble along the way, it always means that they are building valuable life skills. Rectory's supportive environment enables us to create a personalized learning plan that fits your child. Our signature Individualized Instruction Program allows students to build subject-specific skills, develop executive functioning strategies, and gain the remediation and enrichment they need to thrive in the overall academic program... and in life. All aspects of our program (academics, athletics, arts, and residential life) are rooted in the core values of the School Creed: Responsibility, Respect, Honesty, and Compassion. Students graduate from Rectory with strong ethical and social values and an education that lasts a lifetime.
