St. Paul’s School
Overview
+(1).jpg)
Set on 2,000 wooded acres in New Hampshire's capital city, St. Paul's is one of a few U.S. schools that remains fully boarding, both for students and faculty. SPS is committed to the three essential elements of adolescent development – mind, body, and spirit. Students encounter rigorous academics and the highest levels of college preparation. An expansive athletic center, two climbing walls, two indoor hockey rinks, two boathouses, and a 2,000-meter rowing course speak to the School’s emphasis on sports and fitness. The Episcopal tradition supports students of every faith, encouraging open discussion of spirituality in the modern world. Close adult-student relationships are at the core of SPS community life, with its emphasis on personal responsibility and service. Over $11.5 million in financial aid is awarded annually to support 39% of students.

Academics
Summary: Concentrated academic work done in collaboration by the students and faculty at St. Paul's School is the hallmark of our academic program. Through the School's rigorous academic standards, we encourage our students to attain the highest level of scholarship and intellectual growth and development. The School boasts a uniquely challenging science curriculum, in which students apply the scientific process and content learned from their initial course in physics to the following study of chemistry and then biology. Science students next have the opportunity to study each of these foundation courses at the advanced level as well as unique opportunities in astronomy, ecology, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Students encounter a carefully designed mathematics curriculum that allows them to progress through comprehensive content and trains them as keen analytical thinkers. In our integrated, interdisciplinary humanities courses, students learn to think critically in a unique curriculum that connects important elements of literature, history, philosophy, and religious studies. St. Paul's School goes beyond the traditional language learning structure and offers courses in seven languages providing our students a global education. The School recognizes that intense and regular involvement in the arts is fundamental to creating a well-educated person. We pride ourselves on a performance-based arts program in which students at all levels in music, dance, theatre, and the fine arts can develop and grow. The School's Advanced Studies and Independent Study Program provide additional opportunities for our students to dive more deeply into already intensely-studied subject matter. Because St. Paul's School is fully residential, learning is not confined to classroom hours. With devoted faculty members and talented peers permanently in our students' midst, the quest for knowledge does not cease at the end of scheduled class time.
